Donkeys Years

Donkeys Years Theatre Closed  London Ticket Web

Donkeys Years .Twenty five years after graduation, six former students return to their university college for a reunion dinner.
Whilst their lives may have had varying degrees of success, all are connected by a common past. Once locked in college for the night, the graduates begin to relive their youth, and old friendships, feuds - and the much-desired but absurdly proper Master's wife - come tumbling back into the present Michael Frayn's recently reopened  play. Donkeys' Years was a comedy triumph when it first opened in the West End. Thirty years on, this new production of Frayn's brilliant farce should not be missed by anyone who has ever revisited - or avoided old friendships.

Donkeys Years - Closed A Hell of a reunion! Michael Frayn's classic comedy returns to the West End in a new production.

Theatre Review

Donkeys Years Now Jeremy Sams, who was responsible for the most recent joyous revival of that masterpiece [Noises Off], has dusted off the earlier Donkeys' Years in a version lightly revised by the dramatist. And, once again, one is left physically weak with grateful laughter... Sams brilliantly choreographs the farcical action, while also capturing the sheer ghastliness of middle-aged, middle-class men trying to relive their youth... There isn't a single weak performance from the nine-strong cast... What a deliriously enjoyable evening this is: English comedy at its classic best.
The Daily Telegraph

The plot is too absurd to explain, but the action occurs on the college premises, beautifully created in Peter McKintosh's Cotswold honey-stoned design... Doors slam, truths are blurted, medical syringes are jabbed into the wrong bottoms and the pace accelerates to the point when Haig is sweating rivults of despair. The timing of the slamming doors is done to tight perfection... This show is a real belter.
