Rattle of a Simple Man is a Play by Charles Dyer. Directed by John Caird.  Percy, a middle aged football supporter has never had a relationship with a woman. One night, after the match, he meets the young and streetwise Cyrenne and they return to her flat. As the evening progresses these two strangers from contrasting worlds are forced to confront their insecurities and discover that they may not be so different after all.
This tender comedy has enjoyed success both on stage and screen. This production marks the first major London revival in over 20 years.  The production features Michelle Collins and Stephen Tompkinson.  Michelle Collins is best known for her television role as 'Cindy Beale' in EastEnders. Stephen Tompkinson was last in the West End in 2003 in Arsenic and Old Lace.

Rattle of a Simple Man  closed : 5 June John Caird's revival of Charles Dyer's play Rattle of a Simple Man at the Comedy Theatre has posted a closing notice for 5 June 2004 after a run of four weeks!

Rattle of a Simple Man Directed by Olivier award winner John Caird, this production features two of Britain’s favourite actors Michelle Collins and Stephen Tompkinson. Michelle Collins, making her West End stage debut, is best known as 'Cindy Beale' in "Eastenders". Her other TV credits include: "Real Women", "Daylight Robbery", "Sleeper", "Perfect", "Ella and the Mothers", "Two Thousand Acres of Sky". Stephen Tompkinson has enjoyed considerable success on stage in Arsenic and Old Lace, Art and Tartuffe. On TV he is well known as 'Father Peter' in the TV series "Ballykissangel" and starring roles in "Drop the Dead Donkey", "Grafters", "All Quiet on the Preston Front" and "In Deep
