Whistle Down The Wind

Whistle Down The Wind Show Closed  from London Ticket Web

Whistle Down The Wind Based on the much loved sixties film starring Hayley Mills, Bill Kenwright's production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's and Jim Steinman's hit musical is an extraordinary and uplifting tale about the transforming power of love. Relocated to America's deep South, a 15 year old girl discovers a mysterious man hiding in a barn. When she asks his identity the first words he utters are "Jesus Christ". It's as if all her prayers have been answered. The girl and her town's other children vow to protect the stranger from the world that waits outside; meanwhile the townspeople are determined to catch a fugitive recently escaped from gaol.....

Whistle Down The Wind's multi-award-winning songs - including one of the most popular hits of recent times: 'No Matter What' (Boyzone), and a powerful all new staging combines epic storytelling with intimate emotion as the innocence of children collides with the cynicism of the adult world.

Theatre Review

Whistle Down The Wind
I've had a soft spot for Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down the Wind ever since I caught it in previews in Washington ten years ago... And Bill Kenwright's revival at the Palace convinces me that Whistle is Lloyd Webber's most underrated musical and the score may be his best.
The Times

at its best, the show is tough and stirring... Kenwright's production, with spare but evocative designs by Paul Farnsworth, is both simpler and more rousing than the original, and if he could only rein in the sentimentality, the show's timely portrait of American racism and religious fundamentalism could become exceptionally powerful..."
